Making a Difference
NOW!

Beacham 2:42 “Mission Possible" Group
September/October 2008
This small group chose to take the challenge issued by Crossroads to take $ 50 & make an impact in the community. The challenge was, as in the parable of the talents, to take the $ 50 & multiply it. They were to take the funds & make a difference in the community.
They decided take the funds and hold a fundraiser. They purchased smoked pork butts and sold them to friends and family. That $ 50 multiplied into more than $1,000.00! They chose as a group to partner with the ECLC in making a difference in the community.
In addition to their fundraising efforts, they have decided as a group to volunteer in the Clothing Dept. on the 4th Tuesday evening of the month.
Several other small groups from Crossroads have also joined in this challenge to make a difference in the community by partnering with the ECLC. We appreciate all that the local churches who pursue the mission right here at home, in Evansville! Thank you, to all of the small groups and churches who are actively engaging in mission and ministry!
CMC People Committee
September 2008
The Card Management Corporation People Committee heard the need for Food Pantry items at the ECLC and responded in generosity. In the month of August and September, this committee held a food drive and was able to donate over 350 non-perishable food items and a donation of $500.00 for the ECLC Food Pantry. Thanks to this group, the food pantry was able to help the 462 families who came in for food in the month of September. Out of these families, 201 were first time visitors. Without groups like the CMC people committee, we would not be able to sustain our ministries in these trying times.

Old Tyme Photo Fundraiser
Deig Photography
July 2008
Lynn Deig, owner of Deig Photography, held a photo fundraiser for the Pregnancy Care Services of the ECLC. Lynn set up her photo shoot in the Life Center Men's Club, and took adorable old tyme photos of local kids. The sitting fee was only $10.00 which included a free 8x10 photograph. All proceeds from the sitting fee were donated to the ECLC! This proves that anyone can Make a Difference NOW, simply by doing what you love, or figuring out a way to give back by using your talents! We thank Lynn Deig for her hard work that weekend, and urge you to give her a call if you want great Old Tyme Photos of your family or children! Deig Photography 812-589-9816.

Vacation Bible Schools
Summer 2008
During the summer months the ECLC lawn becomes a huge playground and learning center for the Vacation Bible Schools of area churches. Each week during the month of July, a different VBS studied the Word and taught children about the love of their God. We are happy to be a part of helping these vacation bible schools with involving children in serving the Lord. We also want to recognize all of the VBS leaders and volunteers for Making a Difference in the lives of children NOW!

Northpark Baptist Church
Neighborhood Party
July 16, 2008
Northpark Baptist Church has been reaching out to the Evansville community by hosting Neighborhood Parties at several area churches. On July 16, 2008 they held a Neighborhood Party on the lawn of the Evansville Christian Life Center. The evening provided food, live music, children's games and a message to those in attendance. With around 50 of our neighborhood friends there, we had a great evening with the members of Northpark Baptist Church and are glad they are Making a Difference NOW!

Hyatt Small Group from CFC
June 2008
This small group is Making a Difference NOW! On the second floor of our building, we have an ongoing project called the Retreat Center. This center, once completed, will be a great getaway for small groups or Men's and Women's weekend retreats. The Hyatt small group from CFC volunteered their time, talents, and treasures to complete one of the Retreat Center Rooms this year. Thanks to this small group, we're one step closer to the completion of the Retreat Center!

Jared Jones- Eagle Scout
June 2008
Jared is a 17 year old Eagle Scout who is Making a Difference NOW with his newly completed Eagle Scout Project. Jared also completed one of the Retreat Center Rooms, getting this area ready for use by small groups and churches in the Evansville area. We are happy that Jared decided to complete his project here and send many thanks!

First Christian Church Newburgh
Family Service Month
June 2008
Denise, Josh, Michael and Carolyn were just a few of the FCCN members who continue to volunteer at ECLC after Family Service Month. June was Family Service Month at First Christian Church in Newburgh. Over 30 families, staff, and youth from FCCN volunteered at the ECLC in the month of June. Each of the volunteers worked for one day in the hot meal program or clothing department to serve the Lord by serving others. We are so impressed with what one church could accomplish in one month of service! First Christian Church of Newburgh is Making a Difference NOW at the Evansville Christian Life Center. Thanks FCCN!
PLUS - The FCCN Youth Group
June 2008
The FCCN Youth Group took their volunteerism to the next level and returned to do some extra cleaning for us. They came over as a separate volunteer trip and helped to clean the garage and clear out some items from the lower level of the building. Way to Make a Difference NOW!
